The fun part about burgers is that you can top them with just about anything you like, and you can also make them out of almost any type of protein. This Chipotle Tuna Burger recipe showcases Wild Selections Solid White Albacore and smoky chipotle seasoning for a creative twist on a classic burger.

  • 1 5 oz. can of Wild Selections Solid White Albacore in Water
  • 1 whole egg
  • 8-10 crushed saltine crackers
  • 1 tsp. of chipotle seasoning
  • ½ cup of cornmeal
  • Your preferred oil to fry with- we used canola.
  1. Drain the tuna and place in a medium-sized bowl. Take a fork and mash the tuna until well-separated.
  2. Add in the egg, and mix until fully incorporated into the tuna.
  3. Crush about 8 saltines into crumbs and mix in with the egg and tuna. If the mixture is too moist, add in some additional saltines until you can form it into a solid patty form. This recipe can make one large patty or two smaller patties.
  4. Heat your oil in a pan over medium-high heat
  5. Sprinkle the cornmeal onto a small place, and dust the tuna burger into the cornmeal on all sides until fully coated.
  6. Fry the burger for 2-3 minutes on each side, making sure to get the outer edges as well. Lay the burger(s) on a paper towel-lined plate to soak up some of the excess oil when finished cooking.
  7. Place your burger(s) on a bun, on top of a salad, or eat it on its own with a tasty dipping sauce + enjoy!
