Foods to Help Your Focus

With all the summer time distractions, it can be hard to stay on task and focus. While yoga, meditation and other activities can certainly help you focus, we’d like to recommend the delicious kind – simple foods. Whether you need a pick-me-up or long lasting energy, here are some of our favorite foods that help you focus.

Avocados

In addition to containing “healthy fat” avocados are rich in folate. Folate is essential for the maintenance of cognitive function, memory improvement, and overall brain health. Half an avocado contains 61 micrograms of folate, and is a delicious pairing in many dishes. One of our favorite quick meals is this Wild Tuna Stuffed Avocado Recipe.

Sardines

Sardines are also a terrific source of food when trying to improve concentration. They contain omega-3 fatty acids, which are highly responsible for improving brain cell communication. Omega-3 fatty acids are the most used natural products among U.S. adults (7.8%) and continue to rise. An easy way to get your omega-3s is putting sardines in a simple sandwich. Our tasty Sun Dried Tomato Sardine Club Sandwich is a great source of fatty acids and will keep your hunger under control.

Water

Approximately two-thirds of the human body is made up of water so it’s no surprise that adding more water into your system would be beneficial to your overall health and daily energy. While the body is made up of two-thirds water, the brain is 80% water. Drinking more water improves concentration and cognition. Water can be considered as a daily nutrient that is essential for your brain and body. Reusable water bottles keeps this habit convenient and sustainable.

Salmon

Another rich source of omega-3 fatty acids is salmon. Salmon is considered an oily fish and contributes to healthy brain function. There are countless ways to prepare this specific fish that don’t necessarily have to be challenging. An easy way to incorporate salmon in your diet is to substitute it for another meat in one of your meals, like this Kale and Salmon Burger Recipe.
